June 20--July 19-2008

I have not been keeping up with the blog, but there is new to report. In this first part, I am going to lambaste the Pennsylvania legislature for cutting the funding for CFF. I understand that there are budget constraints, but I cannot understand why they would cut something that works and is so vital to education. I actually wrote to the members of the legislature before the budget vote, and I got what I expected--no reply at all. In my 30 years of teaching, I have seen some crap come out of the legislature concerning education, but to cut a program that is working is ludicrous. Okay, off the soapbox. The next big news is that our principal is leaving for a new job. He was an advocate of the students and cared about all aspects of the school. He will be missed. Now we have uncertainty with who the replacement will be. I have been working on CFF material but not with a lot of diligence. I will be heading back to the classroom for the upcoming school year with mixed emotions,and I have been preparing for that return. I love teaching and I will be able to integrate the technology into my class, but I do worry about my role with the other teachers and students. I will not sacrifice my students. It might be an interesting fall. Well, that is my update; I do have a few more items to post, but I need to leave that for future bloggings because I have to view them with calmer feelings so I do not make any mistakes in my writing.
