I took a good look at my color scheme for the blog, and I said to myself, "Self, it is still appropriate for the upcoming month; therefore, I will not change a thang." I know I have great conversations with myself. Speaking of conversations, I had a great one with a Social Studies teacher yesterday who came to me wondering what innovative and 21st Centuryesque could be done with a new class. We brainstormed the topic and came up with several. I loved it. Oh, the the teaching went great yesterday, and I must admit that I missed being there. I love the collaborative aspect of education at this point, and even though it is not new to me, I think it is great to watch this aspect unfold. Technology is helping to spearhead the collaborative concept, and I take some satisfaction in knowing I was correct in my approach years ago, even though I took some heat for it. I do not like the regimen that is driving it all here, but I know one can adapt. I also told all of my loyal reader(s?) that I would keep up the blog, and I am adhering to that promise. The wireless problem still continues, and I see it getting worse. I am not sure of the problems, but I will inform the great powers of it. Did some tech training with a science class. I also have been in contact with the science dept chair. There are some good in roads happening there, and I will bide my time. I also have been working with the social studies dept on various projects, and I like what is happening there. Someone asked me today if I like what I do. I answered in the affirmative with the following caveat, "I never know what is going to happen when I walk through those doors." That is not always true, but it is true with respect that something new will happen each day, and I learn from it. I am busy with all sorts of tasks, but the day goes sailing by with little concept of time. I have Back to School night tonight, and I dealt with teachers on many topics to ease their evenings. I spent most of the day working with several teachers and updating the CFF resources on our shared folder. I found a site where I downloaded several audiobooks, poetry, and social studies resources. I got it done and sent out the email to all teachers to avail themselves to the additions. I also helped a teacher find a resource. The teacher set up a Skype conference with a person who has climbed Everest at least two times. She told me it went great. I am so glad to hear this. It is truly amazing how the world has become smaller, and these opportunities exist for all students and teachers who want to spend the time to explore them. Photostory has really taken off here, and teachers and students have adopted the program well. Not only have they adopted it, but they are using it to create disciplinary appropriate material. I need to be able to be in more than one place at one time. I knew this day was going to be a test of being to do all that was scheduled and to get it all done. I will tell you that was tough. First the Promethean representative came and did a beautiful job of in-servicing my first year CFF teachers. It was a lot of one-on-one instructional time, and by talking with the teachers, I know they benefit ted greatly from all of the time. I wish we had more time for it. I also had several meetings from Janus to working with alumni to working with a student on html. From there I had to deal with ideas and sit in on a social studies meeting. I finally left after 5PM. It makes for a long day, but it was well worthwhile. I felt a lot got accomplished and will help with technology integration in many different areas. Even though it was stressful, the rewards will be worth it. I also obtained some information for April that will help my team to even heighten skills more. I just wish I knew the board and the software better, and I know that I will get trained this year. I must also be patient. The weather looks rough for tomorrow. Neither rain, storm, nor power outage will stay this integrator from his appointed rounds.....flick PS Thanks Wendy for all of your help. You are great!!!!!

The day started off poorly, but it got a lot better. LME. I will talk about the good part. One teacher, who is not even a part of CFF, talked to me about doing a webquest in social studies. She told me that it was out of her comfort zone, but she was quite excited about doing it. Good job Mrs. Dean. The second occurred when another teacher took my suggestion--she is part of CFF--about the possibility of using PhotoStory for logic fallacies. This is also out of her comfort zone, but she is willing to give it a try. She is worried about the facilitation mode of teaching. It is a foreign concept. I love it. I also have the embedded learning set up and have emailed teachers about using it. I know some are worried about the time and the technology, but as long as they are willing to work with me, I will be willing to throw myself into their projects. It is moving ahead, and I am quite happy with these little victories. I know that this is tough because we have been programmed to believe that there is only one way to do things; it is very tough to reliquish that control. It will start slowly, but every revolution must start some where. I will be back tomorrow.
