TTWF (Tech Talk With Flick) was a rousing success with me, myself, I, and a teacher who dropped by because he saw me in there. This does not daunt my spirit because with that teacher dropping by, I was still able to help with him with some questions. Besides my initial meeting last night, yesterday was quite busy. A teacher broached me about Exam View and how to set it up. I did not know so I installed it and have a meeting with another teacher to find out all of the particulars. The teacher who did the photomosaics posted them on her wiki, and she was extremely happy with the results. I viewed them and thought they were quite good. She is actively working other angles, and I know I will be busy. I also had other things to handle which were not too bad. I am still trying to solve the problem with the dual pens in Promethean, and I think I have a lead. The problem that stymied yesterday dealt with Excel and how to get the links to be absolute and relative. I do think that problem is solved. It was a busy day, and I am happy about the results. I still will have TTWF next week even though it is after an in-service day and right before Thanksgiving...............flick

The hole in the proverbial dike this week has been patched for a little while. It was nice to work on some items that needed attention and prepare for the photoshop and photostory tutorials. Most of the students know photostory. I have a neat tutorial on how to morph something into a Shrek-like creature so get to know the power of the software. I also have been meeting with more and more teachers who are breaking out of their comfort zones to work with technology such as wikis, mosaics, etc. I am finding my services more and more in demand. The Skype with Iraq went well. The students were able to talk with someone actually there, and, from what I hear, was the hit of the assembly. I am just forging ahead and doing certain things. Tomorrow is Friday, and I have no idea what it will bring. I still love that unknown. Oh, the additional wireless node in a classroom has solved a lot of problems. Okay, I am finished. Be back tomorrow.............flick

It is great reading blogs from contemporaries even though they are slanted to one particular type of system, etc. My network wizard sent me a link for a blog he found, and I am impressed with it. The author looks at various topics with respect to technology and education, and although I do not agree with everything, it does help me introspect with reference to my own beliefs. The link for all my readers to inspect http://education.zdnet.com/ I hope that you found it as informative as I have. I was really out and about today. It is good to be busy. I am also looking at something new on paiunet that will really help us with wikis and blogging. It is too early to tell whether it will benefit us or not. I will find the answers. Hey, be back tomorrow....flick

The frost definitely covered the pumpkin today; I could tell because it was cold outside then building and cold inside. That did not stop the intrepid CFF, oops, secondary technology integrator from attacking his duties. I still working on the wiki presentation, and I do think it will be a good one. Wikispaces is making it easier and user-friendly to get students and teachers involved. I think it is great. I also finished the kmz file for the teacher who took students on a field trip. I was out and about. I also had a chance to work on my wiki. I have taken a look at it, and it is huge; there are great resources there, but it is overwhelming. I have decided to break it down even more for ease of use. A good day with lots of work accomplished so I will be back tomorrow. Maybe the frost will ease....Nawwwww!!!!!!!!!!! ...............flick

Another week, and I am ready for what awaits me. I have a half day today due to some personal business I have to handle. I set up a GPS unit with for a field trip. I will talk with them on Wednesday and get them ready. I also talked with some other teachers about future units. I will do some research and get that ready. I also talked with a teacher about creating wikis for her class. Lookedy good. I will be back tomorrow.............flick

I have no idea what is up with the wireless network, but it has caused a lot of constipation (I know I chose that word) today when I am trying to have classes do things. I talked to the grand wizard of IT, and he is going to see what can be done. I am worried about next week because I know a lot of classes are going to be using it. A lot of the classes are finishing their Photostories, and I will get to view some creative geniuses. I spent a lot of time in the classrooms to day working with teachers. I am also finding great new sources to pass along to teachers and add to my wiki: http://cffflick.wikispaces.com/ . It is a sound wiki with good resources. I do need to do some recategorizing. Well, it is off to the weekend. Next week already looks busy, and I will be in a conference in Harrisburg on Tuesday. Take care...........flick

09/09/09 I know that numerologists are having a field day with this, but I have a hard time believing that numbers play an important role in the fates of all. I imagine the lotteries around the US will be inundated with those playing that number today. That is my take on it all. Still working on various problems. I also updated my wiki today and am prepared to teach tomorrow the moviemaker program. I met with the lit coach, and we are making a concerted effort to get the Read 180 program working. The teachers are doing a great job at integrating technology in many ways. I still love to see the light turn on in people's faces. I met with a total of six teachers today formally a three more informally. I am scheduled for the classroom many times in the next couple of weeks. It will be busy, but that is why I do this. I wish all of you numbers people great luck today...........flick

My CFF wiki is finally up and running with some information on it. I plan to use the wiki as a resource and a test ground for teachers at PV, not just CFF teachers. I feel that getting more and more teachers involved with it will generate some interest in the use of technology. The composition of the wiki will revolve around various web sites, software tutorials, etc. I am hoping that teachers will join and become contributors to the site. I just sent the invitation to all CFF teachers. I just love the name wiki, and I am sure it does provide some connotations. Most of the day today dealt with individual problems from students. I also had to work on individual harware problems. Today, I am going to be oot and aboot (I had to add some Canadian idioms to my blog because I love the the people) and see what is happening. I need to get out more and talk with others. I need to do what I say so I will talk with ye tomorrow. Oh, the wiki for those interested, and you all (had to add some Southern) should want to visit http://cffflick.wikispaces.com/

Today was not a stressful day, and I got a lot of work done. I visited the LA class again to see if there were any questions, and I did have a few. I was upset that most tried to do a PowerPoint and did not try movimaker or photostory. They do have choices. I learned that I need to limit those choices next time. It will also be a learning curve for me. I also got a lot of minor things done, which have been on the back burner. I also have begun in earnest the job of creating a teacher wiki for use by all teachers in the district. I feel the wiki will help all become initiated to the concept and will allow collaboration by invitation only; therefore, teachers can add resources as deemed necessary. It will be a good challenge. I also had another student comment on my blog today, and I need to respond to that one. It was a good day, and I will take that. There a were a few tech glitches. The part that really made my day happened yesterday and last night when I walked around during back-to-school night and saw teachers using their interactive boards. Some even ventured outside their comfort zones and created some PowerPoints for their respective classes. i thought this was great. It will take time, and I will take those triumphs. Great job teachers!!!!!!!!!!! Until tomorrow.....Oh, I forgot I have to add this song which extols the sarcastic virtues of NCLB (No Child Left Behind). It is great.. Here is the link to "Not On The Test" http://www.tomchapin.com/ Tom I love the message.
